LitePoint Z8801 PXI Local Oscillator

The Z8801 (Part Number: 01122-01) from LitePoint is a versatile PXI Local Oscillator that provides accurate and steady signals at certain frequencies. The front panel of the Oscillator is equipped with SMA connectors for 3 ports, each designed for a separate function. 

The REF OUT port facilitates the output for the backplane reference clock, while the REF IN port is designed for the standard reference clock input of the device. The third port on the front panel, LO OUT, facilitates all of the output for the Local Oscillator. The LO output level of the LitePoint Z8801 ranges from +10 dBm to -10 dBm, and it features 0.1 dB of resolution. With a typical end-to-end frequency switching speed that is ≤ 1 ms, the LitePoint Z8801 is an excellent choice for test and measurement applications of all sizes.

The PXI interface of the LitePoint Z8801 features enhanced compatibility. It is compatible with version 2.2 of the PCI Standard, and it can be used with both PXI Standard and PXIe Hybrid Slots. Boasting an XJ4 connector, the Z8801 is compatible with multiple PXI timing & triggering signals, including PXI_STAR and PXI_CLK10 for input and PXI_TRIG[0:7] for both input and output.

Four LEDs on the Local Oscillator provide quick visual insight into the LitePoint Z8801, indicating the status of the Ready (RDY), Host (HST), Lock (LCK), and Active (ACT) functions of the device. Built to withstand a wide range of environmental conditions, the device has a maximum cooling and power consumption of 21.5 W. The maximum power current of the Z8801 depends on the voltage used. A voltage of +3.3 VDC has a max current of 0.26 A, while a voltage of +5 VDC boasts a maximum current of 4.00 A. A voltage of +12 VDC has a max current of .05 A, while a voltage of -12 VDC draws in a current of only .01 A. 

Physically, the LitePoint Z8801 is a 2 slot PXI module that measures 8.25 in x 1.59 in x 5.25 in (20.96 cm x 4.03 cm x 13.34 cm) in dimensions and weighs in at 1 lb and 8.1 oz (0.683 Kg).
